Promoting Fireworks Safety Month

Using promotional items to promote awareness for any cause is always a good idea. Lapel Pins, Patches, Stickers and Banners are some of the most common items used for this purpose. Today’s inspiration is about June being the Fireworks Safety Month.

According to facts posted in the http://www.nfpa.org/ website:

In 2006, fireworks caused an estimated 32,600 reported fires, including 1,700 total structure fires, 600 vehicle fires, and 30,300 outside and other fires.

These fires resulted in an estimated 6 civilian deaths, 70 civilian injuries and $34 million in direct property damage.

The National Council on Fireworks Safety(http://www.FireworksSafety.org) has a single mission:

To educate the public on the safe and responsible use of consumer fireworks so as to eliminate injuries

If you want to handle fireworks, please follow these Safety Tips:

* Use fireworks outdoors only.
* Obey local laws. If fireworks are not legal where you live, do not use them.
* Always have water handy. (A hose or bucket).
* Only use fireworks as intended. Don’t try to alter them or combine them.
* Never relight a “dud” firework. Wait 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water.
* Use common sense. Spectators should keep a safe distance from the shooter and the shooter should wear safety glasses.
* Alcohol and fireworks do not mix. Have a “designated shooter.”
* Only persons over the age of 12 should be allowed to handle sparklers of any type.
* Do not ever use homemade fireworks of illegal explosives: They can kill you! Report illegal explosives to the fire or police department in your community.

In order to promote awareness, we have created the following designs, to be used as lapel pins, stickers, banners, patches and other promotional items:
